Anna Franke works with large pieces of fabric, placing them on rocks, bathing them in the ocean or rivers, and leaving them for weeks on the earth—under stones, exposed to wind, rain, and time.
Her practice is both research and ritual, a spiritual journey into the elemental forces of nature. She explores the interplay of sensitivity, fragility, and wildness.
Painting becomes a field of experimentation, where she works with natural materials in liquid and solid states. Through layered processes using earth, dust, debris and water, Anna allows the forms to merge with their surroundings, forging an intimate connections with the land.
