FLUCTUATION
(Floating Landscapes)
2024
4,20 x 3 x 2,50 m
Cotton fabric, earth, sand, glew
The work carries with it the energy of the Extremaduran water masses in which it has been immersed with the fabric in the Garganta de Gualtaminos Waterfall, as well as the heaviness of the dusty yellow earth of the Aldea Tudal area, famous until the 1990 for being one of the most prolific area for tobacco cultivation.
Suspended from the ceiling of the exhibition space, this spatial arrangement not only elevates the viewer‘s experience but also serves as a chromatic nod to the tobacco leaves that in the past hung from above in the drying sheds.
The sculpture was created as part of the joint project „Crossing Water“.
The artists lived and worked together at the „Ras de Terra“ residency in the Sierra de Gredos National Park, Extremadura, Spain, responding to the impressive terrain of mountains and thunderous rivers. This phase of collaboration culminated in an exhibition in the „Ras de Terra“ Gallery. Through various mediums and forms, the artists explored various meanings, sensations, and symbolisms of crossing water.
